BIG APPLE FEST
ACRILIC ON CANVAS
LEATHER MASKS
ILLUSTRATION

Artist Iae Ferreira's stunning "Big Apple" sculpture is a large-scale piece in the shape of an apple, depicting the Empire State Building in brilliant colors and a dynamic Pop Art style. The work consists of six different images processed from original black and white photographs of the Empire State Building, which the artist graphically modified by computer, digitally printed on adhesive vinyl, and, finally, applied directly on the apple. In crisp lines, bold colors and forms that curve sleekly over the surface of the apple, Ferreira describes the New York cityscape, a skyline notable for the Empire State Building, perhaps the most widely recognized symbol of the city. Born and raised in Pernambuco, Brazil, Ferreira is a painter who creates wonderfully personal acrylic portraits, as well as masks of striking color, fabulous patterns and fun designs, which she crafts from handmade leather and paints in acrylic. Ferreira received her degree in Industrial Design & Visual Communications in 2001 at the Federal University of Pernambuco in Brazil, and then move to New York that same year.
